Thank you for joining us today for Kapenzo™ Hair Tip of the Week. Why is it that our makeup seems to be too light or too dark for our skin? Is it that we are applying it too heavy or applying it wrong? Could it be the wrong shade? Here are some simple ways to solve your matching dilemma:
The most important thing to remember is always determine your undertone color. Whether you are a lady of color, Caucasian or Asian, we will either have a yellow undertone or a red undertone and this is easily detected by comparing a pink and a peach swatch against your skin. If the pink swatch seems to brighten your face, then you are said to have a red undertone. If the peach swatch compliments your skin tone, then you are said to have a yellow undertone. Without determining your undertone, purchasing foundation may present a problem as it may cause dark circles to appear darker, or give off the impression of sickness.
Your foundation is supposed to match your neck, not the other way around. If you go according to the tone of your face for your future foundation purchases, you may be faced with a darker coverage than you expected.
Never just pick up any foundation in the store and think that it will be your color because it blends well on your hand. The pigmentation in our face and in our hands is different. Your hands will always be darker due to sun exposure or lighter as a result of illness or treatments than your face.
I hope these tips are useful to all those new and experienced makeup wearers. Before we end of today’s tip, remember:
